Katie Louise Sessoms

Katie (Kathy) Louise Sessoms was born in May 1952 in Wake County, North Carolina. She passed away on August 1, 2025 after a decline in her health. Kathy was only 73 years of age. She was a life-long resident of Apex, NC and completed her public schooling at Apex High School. In 1987 she obtained her nursing degree from Wake Tech. Her natural gift was always serving people which was exemplified through her career as a nurse. She was very conscientious in serving her patients with dignity, respect and true compassion. You always wanted her on your team in any medical situation - and there are many teams out there who will feel her absence. Known for her gentle touch and warm smile, she provided care and comfort to countless patients, earning the respect and love of both her colleagues and those she served. Kathy had a brilliant mind, wonderful sense of humor, disarming wit, and an empathetic heart. Her gentle patience and beautiful beaming smile made every moment in her presence unforgettable. She was a fun-spirited soul and spent many hours with her cherished friends and their children. When it came to her close friends, she was sensitive and incredibly compassionate. She remained a steadfast friend and confidant to everyone she knew. Her friendship made ordinary days extraordinary. She will be remembered for all her heart she shared with her friends and family. She truly loved each of them-and if you knew her, you knew it. One of her most loved places was “anywhere” on the sands of a beach feeling the sun rays while she was talking and laughing. Kathy was predeceased by her Mother Kathryn Sessoms; Father Bill Sessoms; Dr. Sandra Sessoms (sister); Andrew Sessoms (brother). Kathy is survived by David Sessoms (Ashley) nephew and Susanna Sykes (Mike) niece. A graveside service will be Friday, August 8, 2025 at the Apex Cemetery, W. Moore St & Upchurch Street, Apex, NC 27502.
