Glenn Albert Frayne

Glenn Albert Frayne, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and talented engineer, passed away peacefully at his home in Apex, North Carolina, on March 23, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. He was 85 years old. Born on December 8, 1940, in Redford, Michigan, Glenn’s curiosity for how things worked led him to a distinguished education and career. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the Lawrence Institute of Technology. Glenn dedicated 44 years to his craft, working with Detroit Diesel and GM Powertrain until his retirement in 2008. On June 17, 1967, Glenn married the love of his life, Arlene Astbury. Together, they built a life centered on family and shared values. In 2020, after five decades in Northville, Michigan, Glenn and Arlene moved to Apex, North Carolina, to be closer to their daughter Beth and her young family, a move that brought Glenn much joy in his final years. Glenn was a man of many passions, but none greater than his family. He cherished every moment spent with them, whether at home or during peaceful trips to the beach at Oak Island, North Carolina. Those who knew him well will remember his remarkable "eye" for classic cars; Glenn could identify the make and model of almost any classic vehicle at a glance. As a gifted handyman, he was known for his ability to fix nearly anything around the house, always finding a solution for any repair. Above all, Glenn was known for his calm smile, his unwavering positive attitude, and the gentle kindness he extended to everyone he met. Glenn was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in January 2026. Though the illness progressed quickly, he faced his final months with the same grace and composure that defined his life. He passed away under the compassionate care of in-home hospice, comforted by the presence of those he loved most. Glenn is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Arlene; his three children, David (Kari) Frayne, Becky (Kurt) Speckhals, and Beth (Jim) Loebach; and his seven cherished grandchildren: Elizabeth, Emily, Julia, Abby, Andrew, Maxwell and Brandon. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to know him. No funeral service/event is planned at this time. In lieu of flowers, please simply remember Glenn with fond memories.
