Glenda Jean Link

Mrs. Glenda Link passed away peacefully, holding the hand of her beloved husband, Vance, on July 1, 2022. Glenda, born in Abilene, TX on December 1, 1949 was one of ten children of the late Walter Price and Pearl Mae Wolf. A lifelong Follower of Christ, she had a passion for the lost. Glenda was involved with the Gideon’s International Women’s Auxiliary for over 35 years. She served as an area director for a 7 county regions in the triangle area. Along with her husband, she spoke and sang at many Gideon banquets and events across the state, representing the Auxiliary division of the Gideon Organization. She loved speaking and singing at these events, bringing a time of joy and excitement to all who attended. Most recently, she was an active member of Good Hope Baptist Church, where she served on several church committees, as well as being a teacher in the Ladies Dorcus Bible class. Whenever she walked into a room, she brought light, laughter and joy, lifting spirits and refreshing the hearts of everyone who came into her presence. She was constantly encouraging and challenging others in the growth of their faith. For years, Glenda was also a member of a Gospel Quartet that sang and ministered at local retirement centers and nursing homes, always being a source of joy and light. Glenda enjoyed drawing, painting, decorating, playing the piano and singing. She loved flowers, often transforming her deck into a tropical paradise during the spring/summer seasons. She enjoyed sightseeing and traveling with her husband. She loved her family, her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren – often wishing she had more time to spend with them. The last 8 years following Vance’s retirement, they were inseparable and rarely apart. When Vance had to run errands she would say, “Wait a minute, I’ll ride with you.” They were always together, with the exception of when he had to mow the grass. Then her response would be, “Be careful don’t get too hot” sometimes adding, “I’ll be taking a nap.” During her final years of life, she battled cancer, and most recently suffered a serious heart attack which resulted in congestive heart failure. As she grew progressively weaker, she was often barely able to speak above a whisper, lacking the strength and stamina to talk. Her last few moments of life were spent along with her beloved husband, Vance – the love of her life and soulmate. As he stood by her side in those final moments, gently caressing her face, he leaned down and whispered to her, “Honey, hang in there. I need you.” She looked at him with a question in her eyes, but nodded in agreement. A few minutes later, she opened her eyes and looked at him and spoke in an audible voice saying, “I want to go home.” Vance answered, telling her, they would be going home in a few minutes. She said OK, reaching up to caress his face, before allowing her hand to drop into his. Vance leaned over, kissed her, and told her he loved her. Her final breath was spent as she replied “I love you, too.” Immediately, after speaking these words, she was carried by the angels into the presence of her God. She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings. She is survived by her husband, Vance of the home; son, Shane Briggs of Clayton, NC; Step-daughter, Jodi Link Hudson (Robert) of Greenville, NC; Step-son, Paul Link (Steven) of Frisco, TX; Brother, Homer Price (Connie) of Houston, TX; 9 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Although our hearts are broken at her passing, we rejoice in knowing, she is now in the arms of Jesus.
