Clarence Lee Zack

Clarence Lee Zack, age 84, passed away peacefully on December 23, 2023, at Cary Wake Medical Center. Born on September 23, 1939, in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, Clarence was the beloved son of Clifton Lee and Ruby Marie (Nicklas) Zack. Clarence's dedication to service was evident throughout his life. He attended Leechburg High School in PA, where he laid the foundation for his future endeavors. He further pursued his education at the University of Pittsburgh. In his earlier years, Clarence was a proud police officer with Manor Township, Pennsylvania. Beyond his role in law enforcement, Clarence was deeply committed to his community, volunteering his time and efforts with the Manor Township Volunteer Fire Department. Professionally, Clarence dedicated many years of service to Kennametal before his well-deserved retirement. He was also a devoted member of Cary Alliance Church, where he found community, solace, and lifelong friendships. An enthusiast of the great outdoors, Clarence had a deep passion for deer hunting and fishing. His love for these activities allowed him to forge lasting memories and relationships in the serene beauty of nature. Outside of his professional and community endeavors, Clarence was a passionate sports enthusiast. He cheered fervently for the Pittsburgh Steelers and Penguins, showing unwavering support for his beloved teams. In a union that spanned 62 beautiful years, Clarence was the cherished husband of Mary Lou Wingard Zack. Together, they built a loving family and left an indelible mark on the lives of those around them. Clarence's memory will forever be treasured by his children: Kimberly Bonner (Tom) of Willow Springs, NC; Sandra Loar (Alan) of Benson, NC; and Ed Zack (Tina) of Cary, NC. He was also a grandfather to Kindra Colucci, Courtney Rybandt, Colton Bonner, Katie Baese, Nicole Zack, and Elizabeth Loar. His legacy further extends to his great-grandchildren: Tristan Rybandt, Zachary Colucci, Madison Rybandt, Amelia Colucci, and Noah Bonner. The family invites friends and loved ones to join them in a celebration of Clarence's life. Visitation will be held at Cary Alliance Church on Thursday, December 28, 2023, from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm. A memorial service, officiated by Thomas Becker, will immediately follow at 2:00 pm. Interment at Apex Cemetery will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Meals on Wheels, an organization close to Clarence's heart.
