William "Chris" Christopher Thompson
September 15, 1989 - March 14, 2020
It is with great sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of our son, William Christopher Thompson. Chris was born on September 15, 1989 in Raleigh, North Carolina to Mitchell and Belinda Thompson. He attended high school at Cary High and Community Partners Charter High School in Holly Springs. He was very goal oriented and had big plans for a successful future. He graduated from William Peace University in 2017 with a bachelor’s degree in Business. After graduation, he started his career in sales, and was very proud to be a member of the SAS Inside Sales team. He was an active member of the AA community and it was one of his biggest passions in life to serve others in the program. Due to the support Chris received from so many during his recovery, he felt compelled to pay it forward. Through the years he was a sponsor to many, spoke at conferences, and his story was an inspiration to others. Chris was a believer in Christ and had a relationship with God. He would share scripture and devotions with his mom, sometimes weekly. He used his faith to encourage himself and others. In November 2019, Chris was blessed with the arrival of his daughter, Delilah Olivia Thompson. As a brand-new dad, we shared many laughs as he navigated uncharted waters in caring for a newborn. What he lacked in experience he made up for in love. He was always thinking about her future and wanted to make sure she had everything she needed and the best life possible. Chris was always on the go and had many hobbies and interests. He loved lifting weights, going to the gym, and CrossFit. He enjoyed photography and being outdoors. One of his favorite things to do was to lay out on the beach on a sunny day. He was even known to visit a sweat lodge. He had a strong love for animals, especially his dog, Bocephus. He had a real passion for food and would sometimes binge eat until he felt sick to his stomach. Some of his favorites were Tollhouse cookies, ice cream, carrot cake, pizza, and ranch dressing. He loved to laugh and could turn ANY situation into humor. He loved traveling and had plans to see the world. He had a genuine love for people – his family, friends, even people he just met. He helped people in any way that he could, oftentimes because he felt led to. He was sympathetic when someone was going through a hard time. He was compassionate. He was funny. He was kind. Chris was loved more than words can describe and will be missed terribly. We are so proud of all that he accomplished during his time here and can’t wait for the day we get to see him again. The service will occur outdoors to take current health and safety concerns into consideration.
