Patti Tobiasz

January 22, 1984 - February 13, 2022

Peace and love. If we are able to take anything from the tragic death of Patti Tobiasz- and god knows the senselessness of her death defies meaning- then it must, paradoxically, be these values we take away from her death on Sunday morning February 13th. She was taken from us too soon, and now we are handed the impossible task of carrying on her legacy, of somehow upholding the fire she carried within her like no one else did. Though she didn’t die happy and full of light and love and laughter, that is certainly the way in which she lived, and how we will remember her. Full of passion and love for her girls, for her husband, for her friends, for her art, and anyone lucky enough to have ever truly known her. She was adventurous in her pursuit to live for each moment, and chose only to see the goodness in everything and everyone she connected with along the way. There is nothing we can say here that could ever encapsulate everything she was. She was always creating- currently she was writing a book. Her art was featured in art shows regularly and she loved to paint. She made jewelry, wrote music, and played any instrument she picked up. Her beauty was absolutely timeless, and of all her artistic creations, she was most proud of her daughters London and Lillian to which her transcendent beauty, humor and kindness are perfectly manifested. She was perpetually in awe of their intelligence and creativity, and it’s a comfort to know that the magic that lived so vibrantly in Patti continues to shine in them. She was absolutely one of a kind, a bringer of light. She gave. She shared. And now that she’s gone we too seem diminished. The part of us that responded to her essential goodness, her dignity, her openness, and her optimism will be much more difficult to locate without her around. Patti made something good and valuable and enduring from her life. She spent her time here loving and creating and spreading her light. We should all try and do the same. There will be no public service, as her loved ones will be remembering Patti privately. Please give the utmost respect and honor to Patti’s memory and keep the sanctity of her girls, husband and family in mind.
