Marie "Pat" Elizabeth Devlin

July 31, 1931 - January 13, 2017

Pat Devlin, 85, passed away peacefully in her home in Apex, NC on January 13, 2017. Pat, born Marie Elizabeth Locke to Elizabeth and Charles A. Locke, was married to Jack Devlin from August 1952 until his passing on March 19, 1987. Pat graduated from Mercy Academy High School in Syosset and attended Mount Saint Vincent College in Riverdale, NY. Pat and Jack were longtime residents of East Norwich, and were very involved in their community. Pat was active with Girl Scouts on a local level as well as with the Nassau County Council of Girl Scouts. She worked with the Board of Elections for Nassau County for many years. Pat was also very dedicated to the Saint Dominic’s community; she sang in the Church Choir for over 50 years, was a 45 year member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Guild, and was an enthusiastic presence at all her children’s educational and extracurricular activities. Pat loved to travel cross country in her RV as well as overseas with her many friends. She especially enjoyed serving as the Matriarch of her extended family. Most of all, Pat dearly loved her family. She is survived by her seven children: John (Lori), Pat (Don) Martin, Eileen (John) DeBrita, Katie, Maggie (John) Hayford, Sue (John) Kelly and Beth (Bill) Wallace. Known as “Seanmair,” she is also survived by her twelve grandchildren – Ashley (Andrew), Louisea, Shannon, Erin, Katie, Devin, Colin, Meghan, John, Bridget, Sarah and Kelsey. Other surviving family members include brothers Charles (Barbara) Locke, and Edward (Joan) Locke, as well as many nephews, nieces, and cousins. Services will take place at Francis P. DeVine Funeral Home, located at 293 South St., Oyster Bay, NY. Visiting: January 27, from 2-4pm and 7-9 pm. A funeral Mass will take place on January 28, at 10:30am at St. Dominic’s RC Church, 93 Anstice St, Oyster Bay, NY 11771. Interment to follow at Locust Valley Cemetery.
