Eugenie "Jenny" Karakos Weidle

October 16, 1935 - October 26, 2015

In loving memory of Eugenie Karakos Weidle who left this world to be with Jesus and her beloved husband on Monday, October 26, 2015. Eugenie was born to Wilhelm and Maria Karakos (nee Schmidt) on October 16, 1935 in Berdjansk Ukraine, and married Johann Hans Weidle on November 23, 1956 in Mansfield OH. Eugenie raised her family in Lakewood OH, and lived most of her later years in Guys Mills PA and Cape Coral FL. Eugenie devoted her life to loving her family and volunteering her time in the community. She loved to create crafts, winning blue ribbons at the Crawford County Fair many years in a row for her pine straw baskets. She was also accomplished at sewing, needle point, cross stitch, knitting, crochet, and was never afraid to try something new. She loved to cook and bake and always made holidays special for the family. Eugenie and husband John were members of the German American Social Club in Cape Coral FL for many years, and participated in the annual Oktoberfest as well as singing in the choir. Eugenie lived at Woodland Terrace in Cary NC the past 6 years and was an active member of the knitting circle. She is survived by sons, John Weidle Jr. of Little Silver NJ and Bert Weidle and wife Elizabeth of Cary NC; grandchildren Scott Weidle and wife Stephanie of Fairfax VA, John Weidle III of W Lafayette IN, Nicholas Weidle of Raleigh NC, Thomas Weidle of Fairview PA, and Deana Bauer and husband Kevin of Denver CO; great grand-daughters Addison Bauer and Virginia Weidle. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in memory of Eugenie to the Alzheimer’s Association at P.O. Box 96011 Washington, DC 20090-6011 or on-line at the Eugenie Weidle Memorial Fund.
