Douglas Haywood Jacobs Sr

September 21, 1942 - May 9, 2017

Today “Doug” has gone across Jordan to meet his Savior. Doug is survived by his wife, Linda; his son, Douglas, Jr. and his beautiful wife Vicky; his daughter Ann and her precious husband Tim Daily; his daughter Gayle and her 2 dogs, Tarheel and Ramsey whom he loved as his own; his grandsons; Joshua Murray, James Murray, Joseph Jacobs and Alexander Jacobs; his niece, Darlene Herndon; and extended family. Doug was preceded in death by his parents, George and Lillian Jacobs, his sister, Julia Herndon and brother in law, Levy Herndon. There were four important things in Doug’s life – his wife of 52 years (the girl who got him into adventures he never imagined), his children and grandchildren, his church and especially the mission outreaches, and his business, “the shop”, Jacobs Custom Cabinets, which created high end cabinetry and mill work for 30 years and through which he provided employment for many. The family would like to express deep gratitude to the team of doctors that God provided as he battled diabetes – Dr. Craig Stevens, Dr. Bruce Fawcett, Dr. Michael Bowman, Dr. Thomas Spruill, Dr. Corey Berlin, Dr. Daniel Vig, Dr. Robert Schmidt and PA Beth O’Leary, and Dr. Ross Boyce. Doug appreciated his doctors more than words can describe. God gave him wonderful nursing care at home and we, his family, are so grateful for Transition Care and our nursing team – Amber, Jennifer, Brandon, Pebbles, Terry, Debbie and Tracie. Without them we could not have kept him where he was most comfortable. To honor Doug please make donations to Mt. Olivet Baptist Church at 3500 Edwards Mill Road Raleigh, NC 27612 in lieu of flowers. Visitation at Mt. Olivet Baptist Church at 3500 Edwards Mill Road Raleigh, NC 27612 between 6 – 8 PM Monday May 15, 2017 and service at 11:00 AM Tuesday at Mt. Olivet Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
