Christine Womble Hobby Howard

November 13, 1923 - September 16, 2015

Christine Womble Hobby Howard, 91, of Apex, died Wednesday, September 16, 2015 at Heartfields of Cary. She was born on November 13, 1923 in Wake County to Bernice Womble and Hattie Kelly Womble. She is survived by her daughter: Brenda Beavers (Wayne) of Cary, and her son: Eddie Hobby (Cindy) of Sneads Ferry; 6 grandchildren, Darin Beavers (Kim), Kenneth Beavers (Kristen), Keith Beavers (Rachelle), Derek Beavers (Lindsay), Nicholas Hobby (Cheyenne), and Kristina Hobby-Strickland (Binford) and 7 great-grandchildren, Madeline Beavers, Avery Beavers, Benjamin Beavers, Adyson Beavers, Lilly Beavers, Savannah Hobby Strickland, and Bristol Beavers. She is also survived by her sister, Nina King, of Apex. Granny, as she was affectionately called by her grandchildren and their spouses, was a true Christian lady who loved God and lived each day showing those around her what faith in action is all about. She was giving, caring, loving, and yes-----feisty! Her love of life was contagious!! Her grandchildren remember with fondness her favorite comment: "Just Do It"! She taught them that they could accomplish whatever they set their minds to do. What a true inspiration she was to all who had the pleasure of knowing her! She will be sorely missed here on earth, but we take solace in the fact that she has now rejoined the love of her life, her Leroy! The family wishes to thank the staff and caregivers at Heartfields of Cary who treated her with such love, compassion, and caring. We feel so blessed to have had the chance to meet these wonderful people who work so tirelessly ensuring that folks, like our mother, are made to feel safe and cared for when they can no longer live in their own homes. She truly loved the people there and came to feel as if it was truly her "home"!! Graveside service will be held at Apex Cemetery, 100 Upchurch Street, Apex, NC at 11:00 am Saturday, September 19th, 2015. The family will receive friends after the graveside service. Memorial contribution may be made to: Susan G. Komen for the Cure, or to the Jimmy V Foundation Cancer Research. On-line condolences may be made to www.WakeFuneral.com.
