Barnett L. Hardin

August 23, 1947 - May 28, 2022

Barnett "Barney" Louis Hardin, 74, of Cary, North Carolina passed peacefully from this life on Saturday, May 28th after a brief battle with leukemia. He was surrounded and cared for by his loving family at Home during the last days of his life. Barney was born on August 23,1947 in Vernon, Texas to Charles and Vera Hardin. Shortly after, the family moved to Pennsylvania where he lived until 2000 before relocating to Cary, NC. Barney graduated from Bishop Neumann High School in Philadelphia. He served in the US Army and Pennsylvania National Guard before joining the Easttown Township Police Department where he worked for 30 years until his first retirement in 1999. Barney proudly continued to work up until his illness in April. Barney is survived by his five children (and spouses): Michael (Elaina), Drew (Renee), Carolann Hardin, Cristen Ayers nee Hardin (Derik), John (Janissa); four grandchildren: Alyssa, Madilyn, Mackenzie and Adriana. He is survived by his brother Charles "Hotty" (Kathleen) and was preceded in death by his father Charles and mother Vera. His affinity for Duke Basketball and Dallas Cowboys football was only surpassed by the love for his family. Barney was loved by many until his last breath and will be greatly missed forever. The family will greet friends July 16, 2022 from 10am to 11am in the mausoleum at Wake Memorial Park cemetery, 7002 Green Hope School Rd., Cary, NC 27519. A private memorial service will follow. Donations in Dad's honor can be made to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society at lls.org.
