Amos Del Valle Barreto Alvarez passed away on January 7, 2018, at the age of 89. Amos was born on March 31, 1928 in Puerto Colon, Estado Sucre, Venezuela, where he was raised with his siblings Juanita, Georgina, Juan, and Luis. He was the son of Eduardo Barreto and Teresa Alvarez de Barreto from Venezuela. Amos went to Universidad Santa Maria in Caracas, Venezuela, where he received a degree in business and accounting. He lived in Caracas where he had a successful career as a certified public accountant. Amos married and had three children with his beloved wife Cristina Couyi de Barreto. Cristina preceded him in death in 2014. Amos felt most at home being surrounded by his children and grandchildren no matter the location. Amos had a kind, quiet demeanor with an ever present smile. His love of all things sports was unmatched. He liked watching baseball, soccer, and tennis the most. Amos kept up with local, national, and international news. He enjoyed spending time with his friends playing Domino. Amos is survived by his children: Amos R. Barreto and his wife Luchy M. Vidal de Barreto; Luis R. Barreto and his wife Milena Lemoine de Barreto; Elizabeth C. Barreto de Gayoso and her husband Alfonso Gayoso. He is also survived by thirteen grandchildren whom he loved and adored to no end; Tomas R. Barreto, Amos J. Barreto, Michelle M.B. Sutton and her husband Jason Sutton, Luis M. Barreto, Mauricio A. Barreto, Lucy M. Barreto, Maria A. Barreto, Alejandro R. Barreto, Isabella C. Gayoso, Sabrina A. Barreto, Gabriel D. Gayoso, and Daniel A. Gayoso. He is also survived by his beloved nieces and nephews who lived around the world. A Catholic Mass, followed by his interment will be held at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, 804 High House Rd, Cary, NC 27513 on Friday, January 12, 2018 at 11am. Family will greet visitors at 10am before the Mass. The Barreto family would like to thank everyone for their prayers and expressions of sympathy during this time of bereavement.
