Alexander Matthew DuBois
October 14, 1990 - January 12, 2019
Alex DuBois of Carrboro, NC, born on October 14, 1990 in Mountain View, CA, passed away on Saturday, January 12, 2019 at the age of 28. He is survived by his parents, Ben and Susan, his brother Matt, his beloved Shania and their daughter Octavia, grandparents Mary Ann and Russ Hatler, grandparents Terri and Howard Coley, as well as many family relatives, and all his great friends from Carrboro, North Carolina, Colorado, California, and beyond. Alex had a great big heart and was a very easy person to like. He had a unique ability to instantly connect with people and build friendships fast. He was always ready and willing to help a friend or stranger. Alex always had the courage to do things his way. He crammed several lifetimes of living into twenty-eight years and gained a wealth of knowledge and experience along the way. Alex used that experience to teach so many of us life lessons over the years. In his lifetime he enjoyed many activities including being an Eagle Scout, an avid outdoorsman, and snowboard instructor. He loved fishing, his Jeep, playing guitar, his dog Zia and a good cigar. But without question, his family was most important to him especially Shania and his daughter Octavia. Not only did Alex touch our lives, he put a great big dent in them. But now he is off on his next great adventure. Keep him in your thoughts. Hold him in your hearts. Put him in your dreams. This is one of Alex’s favorite quotes that he embodied throughout his life: “The past is history, the future is a mystery, today is a gift… that’s why it’s called the present” Please join us for a Celebration of Life in memory of Alex on Saturday, January 19th, 1-3pm at the Page-Walker House, 119 Ambassador Loop, Cary, NC 27513. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in loving memory to Alex's daughter Octavia's 529 college fund. gf.me/u/p4wp2w
