Mark Templeton Potter

It is with extreme sadness the family announces that Mark Templeton Potter has gone to be with the Lord on April 20, 2024. Born in Phoenix, Arizona on December 19, 1963 to the late Richard and Caroline Potter. Mark grew up in Tempe and Mesa Arizona. He graduated from Mountain View High and then went on to receive his Bachelor's degree at Arizona State University. There he served as a football manager earning a Rose Bowl Ring in 1987. He was proud of his Sun Devil Heritage and later fell in love with the Arizona Diamondbacks. Above all else, Mark's devotion to his family was like no other. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 37 years, Lisa Kay Potter, his children, Logan Potter, Lexi (Kyle) Hein, and LeeAnn Potter, as well as his two adored granddaughters, Everly and Madeline. He is also survived by his sister, Andrea Lydy, all of his nieces and nephews, extended family and friends. For 34 years, Mark dedicated himself to a career in IT, serving as a Project/Task Senior Manager, most recently at General Dynamics. His professional journey led him and his family from Arizona to Virginia, and eventually to Iowa, where he embraced his passion for the Hawkeyes and formed lifelong friendships. Mark's love and devotion for family stood out above all else. He took great joy in coaching his children and watching them excel in sports, even traveling around the country to support them through college. Golf was a lifelong passion for Mark, and he enjoyed every opportunity to play. Having so much knowledge of sports statistics, Mark was the ultimate sports enthusiast and a source of endless laughter with his unique sense of humor. Mark was a great man whose loss will be forever felt by his family and friends who loved him dearly. He was a selfless man whose passing leaves an unfillable gap in the hearts of all his loved ones. A Memorial Service is planned on Friday, May 3rd at 3 pm. Visitation with the family begins at 1 pm at North Liberty First United Methodist Church. 85 Jones Blvd, North Liberty, IA. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established and donations can be addressed to Memorial Account of Mark Potter. These can be mailed to North Liberty First United Methodist Church.
