Charles Joseph Hindes

Charles Joseph Hindes, 94, of Cary, North Carolina passed away at his home in Cary, NC on April 27, 2024. He was born on May 31, 1929 in Patterson, NJ to Samuel Elsworth Hindes and Gladys (McKeen) Hindes. Charles is survived by his wife, Jean Hindes, his children Linda (Hindes) Bennett and spouse Thomas Bennett, Charles Hindes and spouse Carol (Robinson) Hindes, Janet (Snow) Hindes, Laurie (Hindes) Trammel and spouse Keith Trammel, siblings George Hindes and spouse Nellie (Baum) Hindes (d), Lillie (Hindes) McConnell and spouse John McConnell (d), Stanley Hindes and spouse (Celia) and sister-in-law Betty Lucas, his grandchildren Joseph Bennett and spouse Rebecca (Goland) Bennett, Meagan Bennett, Craig Hindes, Catie (Hindes) Jerome and spouse Jason Jerome, Lisa Hindes, William Hindes, Samuel Trammel, Maggie Trammel, Sean Trammel and spouse Kathleen (Cutler) Trammel and step grandchild Julie Mitchelson and spouse Wister, great grandchildren Chase Hindes, Faith Hindes, Cole Hindes, Clayton Hindes, Luke Jerome, Tyler Jerome, Cody Jerome, Sawyer Jerome, Natalie Trammel, Mac Trammel, Charlie Bennett, George Bennett and Emma Bennett and step great grandchildren Riley and Sophia Mitchelson. He was preceded in death by his son Earl (Bud) Hindes and siblings, William Hindes and spouse Melva Hindes(l), James Hindes, Walter Hindes and spouse Linda (Froats) Hindes, Esther (Hindes) Daugherty and spouse George Daugherty, Anna (Hindes) Waleski and spouse Wasil Waleski Gladys (Hindes) Braden and spouse Tom Braden, Martha (Hindes) Waleski and spouse Mike Waleski. Although he was born in New Jersey, he moved to Pittsburgh Pennsylvania at an early age and always considered that home. He grew up there in a large extended family that instilled a love and commitment to family that he passed on to his children and grandchildren. Chuck was a lifelong fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and also instilled that loyalty in most of his children. His father died when he was twelve and at that early age he went to work. At age 21 he joined the Marine Corp and served in Korea. He was a plumber by trade and worked his way up from laborer to vice president of Limbach Mechanical Contractors where he spent most of his career. Chuck had a strong work ethic and was always ready to lend a hand wherever it was needed to family and friends. He was generous to a fault and was often known to lend money not only to family and friends, but also to acquaintances that fell on hard times who were referred to him by his church. He never expected any return if people were unable to pay him back. Chuck and Jean were long time members of Salem Baptist Church where he served as deacon, on many committees, but his favorite contribution was his time spent in the nursery. He lived a life of service to his family, his God, his church, country and community. He was a kind, thoughtful, loving, generous man and will be much missed by all. The family will receive friends at Salem Baptist Church on Monday May 6, 2024 at noon. Graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm with a celebration of life following in the chapel. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Salem Baptist Church or Transitions Lifecare of Cary (hospice).
