Ann Lennox Olson

Ann Lennox Olson of Cary, NC, passed away peacefully on February 14, 2023 at the age of 90 with family at her side. She was born in Rochester, NY to the late William and Lois Lennox. Ann graduated from Columbia School, New York and Wells College. After college, she moved to New York City where she met Ernest, her husband of 55 years. His career with General Motors took them overseas to live in several countries in Europe and Africa. Upon retirement, Ann and Ernie spent 14 years in Rochester, NY. They moved to North Carolina in 2006 to enjoy the warmer climate. Ann stayed active by walking daily and participated with vigor in several senior olympics. She was an avid reader and bridge player. She loved traveling, the theater, and getting together with friends. At Christmas, she enjoyed baking several types of cookies which she would gift to family and neighbors. She was most proud of her 6 grandsons, and through the years attended countless of their swimming, hockey, soccer and baseball games. She became a great grandmother in 2021 and was overjoyed to have many of her grandsons and her great-grandson present at her 90th birthday party. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest S. Olson Jr, and daughter Kirsten B. Koenig. Ann is survived by her daughters Susan (Brian) Vondette of Apex, NC and Karen (Matthew) Spitznagle of Williston, VT; her grandsons Peter Koenig III, Andrew Koenig, Christopher Vondette, Jonathan Vondette, Alexander Spitznagle, Zachary Spitznagle; and great-grandson, Peter Koenig IV. She is also survived by her sister, Sue (Mike) Millard of Rochester, NY and brother William C. Lennox, Jr of Holly Springs, NC, and by her many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest S. Olson Jr, by their daughter Kirsten (Peter) Koenig, and by her sister Jean (Kenneth) Keating. The family is grateful to Ann’s wonderful team at Transitions Lifecare for their kind and compassionate care.
